What does it mean to be a Plant-Based Parent. After my first son was born I thought it meant feeding him the green foods and steering him clear of the unhealthy stuff. I was wrong and had no idea of the spillover from foods to daycare to school lunches, birthday parties, vacations, books, movies, you name it and I was finding opportunities to educate my young son on healthy eating and living. It wasn't long after my second son was born that I completed the eCornell Plant-Based Cert. Program and really wanted to share this information. There are quite a few social outlets for like-minded parents to share their stories and I really wanted to branch out to those parents who I knew were asking the same questions I was and just weren't sure where to begin. I started putting together my thoughts about Plant-Based Parenting and so much of it revolved around media, advertising, fast food, and more. I created this website along with a number of presentations to help anyone (parents and beyond) with their Plant-Based questions and journey. A great first step is to look at your home and identify the values you would want someone to experience without asking you any questions. If someone were to walk into your home, what would they see, how would they feel, what sorts of foods are in the kitchen. I like to this of this as a welcome mat activity or journal opportunity. I realized I wanted my home and all of its parts to reflect my heart.
Starting in the kitchen is a practical and logical step. Looking into your pantry, spice cabinet, refrigerator, etc. and identifying foods you wish to keep, no longer keep, use until they are empty. Let me help you with this process - I know having a stranger in your kitchen rooting through your cabinets sounds scary and I promise it will be fun and educational. Let's set up some time to chat and make a goal list, we can meet via FaceTime, webcam, or chat via phone (you know old school telephone convos). I will be back in touch with our plan and then we can schedule our webcam (in your kitchen!). Head on over to the courses tab to sign up!
